Trip Diary - Africa

As with all things... You need to start with the idea.

I have always wanted to do a trip such as this with my family, as the world has so much to offer.

I will let Lucinda carry on...

...A successful trip requires good preparation. We have purchased a really lovely Landcruiser that now goes by the name of 'Miranda, the Overlanda'. Graham drove her to TBR in Essex, for a bit of cosmetic surgery in order to handle her journey. This involves a Patriot roof rack, new OME 2.5" suspension, safari snorkel and a WARN winch. Next week she's off to Frogs Island for new set of tyres. If you're anything like me, you're lost already, I only know she will have a firm bottom, be able to breathe underwater, carry a load on her head and... um....pull well !!!!!!

Whilst Miranda is being beautified, I'm trying to smarten the house a bit, in order to rent it out. This requires a coat of paint in a couple of rooms.....not too difficult......I'll let you know when I've completed the task. The exterior looks great, I employed someone to paint that. Why do we make such an effort to brighten up our home when we plan to leave?

I've started home schooling the children. It's not as bad as I thought it was going to be. They seem to handle the fact that mum can teach, the learning curve though, is can she keep her calm when all about her appears riotous?
